Major Changes to EMDG Program Impacting Australian Exporters!
Round 4 Application Delay: Originally slated for early 2024, Round 4 of the Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) program will now open for applications in November 2024. This means that marketing and promotional activities scheduled from July 1, 2024, will be affected.

Grant Year 2015-16 claimants will receive a mere 0.6450483 cents in the dollar for amounts owing over $40K, making this announcement the worst EMDG result for Australian Exporters in six years.

Putting aside these so called 'savings' measures the Liberal Government has done little with this amending EMDG legislation to address the fact that the scheme remains underfunded. This shortfall will result in many Australian exporters being shortchanged when the second tranche payments are made in June 2016 .

EMDG Review 2015 – Should the EMDG scheme have been abolished?
In February 2014 the National Commission of Audit recommended abolishing the EMDG scheme for Australian exporters and that funding for Export Market Development Grants cease. The 2015 review of the EMDG scheme conducted by Mr Michael Lee has provided a written report recommending that the EMDG scheme be continued.
